Aloha Leighton... I took the survey but found it to be very restrictive. Many US regions have built flourishing high tech communities with very little or no investment from government---it is called Private Equity & Venture Capital. Private, no guar…

Hoku's donation to HiBEAM at the time of sale of public stock was about $1.6 Million . This has enabled HiBEAM to sponsor many entrepreurial firms and events in Hawaii. Dustin's genrousity is often forgotten but he is truely a local hero.

Will do. No, I wasn't thinking anything political. More like straight profiling of interesting businesses, updates on what they are up to. For example, Sprout has gotten almost no coverage even though its racked up an impressive list of advertising clients. Local media pretty much ignores tech unless there is a funding event, a launch or a scandal. But so many of the interesting local tech companies are doing interesting things and moving forward.

BTW, meant to ask. Would HiBEAM be interested in sponsoring more technology coverage on TechHui? I'm doing Featured Techie for free for Dan Leuck but he and I both think that tech coverage in town is extremely weak and really only event driven. Given the unique audience at TechHui, it's a great place to reach people in the entrepreneurial community. And its a really good way to feature up and coming companies in a format that will be more likely to be read by Mainland folks who don't read PBN / etc but do pay attention to TechHui. Just throwing it out there. :), Hope to meet up next time I get back to HI.

All true. We just hit a wall in Hawaii and the opportunities were not there. I'd rather come back from a position of strength than try to scrape it out. I think Carnet will move back some day after Sprout gets bought by Google. :)

E komo mai Barry! We are happy to have you in the TechHui community.

The FAQ is a good place to learn about the site. You may want to join some of the interest groups such as Tech Investors and Renewable Energy.

We hope you find TechHui useful and invite others. See you in the groups and forums!
