oh, Ooma has "808" number now? I might sign up for one... none were available when I signed up earlier this year. I really like my Ooma system and use it to call overseas a lot.

just like magic jack , tried it here , sucked... not enough gateways too hawaii. and latency to their servers was too high.

but residential is about playing the numbers for them.

Too bad it doesn't use wireless. I guess you could connect to a bridging device though...

I went to the ooma website

Its intended for personal use only. they basically state they will terminate service if you are using it for non residential use. they actually have a definition to the word "unlimited" meaning that its not actually unlimited, but their version of unlimited up to 5,000 minutes.

or for "The use of the base unit at a multi-residential address for more than one single residence " So if I pick it up and move it with me whenever I go... it can be considered a violation of the rules.

plus of course they have the standard scape goat, "if we screw you over, you cant sue us" clause
"9 Mandatory Arbitration; No Jury Trial"

plus of course it has the "if we screw you all at the same time, that's too bad" clause
"You agree not to bring or join any class action of any kind in court or in arbitration or seek to consolidate or bring previously consolidated claims in arbitration."

Ooma does have 808 numbers in the 664- prefix I have the Ooma box with the 664 prefix for my business has been rock solid.

Yes, the premier service is where they (Ooma) make their money. The premier service is good though, not necessary, but good. Second line, three way calling, etc.

exactly how you make money off it... people pay for it, just to have it... they don't use it. Unlike a monthly service, its already been paid, for so oh well. plus if the box breaks or is lost, then they buy another. its like the ultimate gift card.

I don't see how they intend on making money with it. I see a shift toward cell phones as the primary line. I personally haven't had a home phone line in probably 5 years.
