Superb just made our Lease To Own server program open to the public - truthfully, these deals are ridiculous. You can use our calculator on the site to see just how much you can save: Own your own server! Anyways, just thought I'd share as we are one of the only hosting companies in the industry to offer this unique opportunity. Enjoy =)

Intuit will customize it for you... for a price. Same as anyone else I suppose.

I think it's probably my open source leanings, but I dislike the idea of web applications you can't do lots of customizations on.

I know of one person who went from magento to intuit. He liked the support and it wasn't all that customizable but he got used to it. The key was the database syncronization. There is a sync service available for magento - you can google - I don't know it off the top of my head. If I remember right, it wasn't free and it worked with magento, oscommerce, zencart, etc..

and by pricey I mean not free... like Magento and other open source competitors

smart of them to sorta corner their share of the eCommerce market and not force the SaaS issue. It's pricey though and I'd be concerned about the ability to customize. Also, doesn't look like their checkout pages can be fully templated. Still, smart move from a business perspective.

I think that's why zen and oscommerce have been around so long - they're cheap and quick but (in my opinion) a nightmare to customize. You should also be aware of intuit's ecommerce offering. It's fairly cheap, they have round the clock support and it ties right into quickbooks for inventory and so on. It's perfect for the small to medium sized business trying to make an extra buck selling product online. See http://marketplace.intuit.com/AppID-2527-Overview.aspx
