My introduction...

My guess is that Photoshop is the tool of choice for this group, so I may be a displaced artist. ;-)

Although I use Photoshop CS3 for a lot of my photography, I use 3d modeling software for my graphics from scratch work. This is, I hate to say, is because of my inability to draw. Here are some of my 3 dimensional work. Are there any other 3d artists in the group?

Im in the same boat! I make 3D renderings instead of photo shopping cause I cant really draw. What program do you use to model? I love freebies so I use Blender.

Hi Josiah

I started in the early 90s with a program called Cimigraphi. After that, I used True Space, Poser, Rhino, and some others. I found Rhino at around five hundred dollars (a lot less if you are a student), to be the one I use most. I use their software called Flamingo (raytrace and radiosity) to render, and Bongo to animate.

To use the files with servos and step motors, I use Deskproto and Cimigraphi mill. The 3d printers such as the T66 and Envision printers use their own proprietary software and only require stl files which most modeling software can produce.

I'm glad to know there is another non-drawing creator here.
